I automate things because I'm lazy — specifically about boring, repetitive work. About ten years ago I started writing simple scripts to eliminate the tedious parts of my day. When tools like Zapier and Airtable came along and made that even faster, I got more interested. Three years ago I realized I could help other people who felt the same way: business owners grinding through manual tasks they resented, without a development team to hand any of it off to.
The slightly weird part is that I don't find building the automations boring. I've been drawn to puzzles since I was a kid — Legos, erector sets, figuring out how things fit together. There's something genuinely satisfying about understanding how a business actually operates and finding where the friction is. The building part is what I enjoy. The repetitive execution part is what I replace.
